For today’s Fast Fact, let’s take a look at some OOH statistics across South Carolina’s 46 counties!

Though Georgia is famously known for its peaches, did you know that South Carolina actually produces more than 2x as many peaches as Georgia per year? Both states pale in comparison to California’s peach output, however!

Morgan Island in SC, one of many barrier islands along the coastline, is uninhabited by humans, but is home to some unique wildlife. Here, you can find over 4,000 rhesus monkeys! Don’t get too close though – these monkeys inhabit the island’s 2000 acres, and have occupied the land since the 1970s, where they were placed for research purposes. Though you can’t visit the island, they can still be seen by boat!

At the state level, Geopath audits over 15,000 spots, with inventory coming from 34 different operators! In the state, there is a total population of 5.2 million.

Here are a few great potential audience segments to be aware of in the state! 2/3 of the state’s population report that they have been to a Quick Service Restaurant to eat in the past 30-days, and 86% report having been to a sit-down restaurant in the same time period!

22% of people in South Carolina report that they have been to a professional sporting event in the past 12-months, 16% have been to a theme park, 15% to the zoo, and 22% to a casino. Of the 5.2 million South Carolinians in the state, 1/3 have done home gardening, 40% have grilled/cooked outdoors, and 16% have done volunteer work in the past 12 months. Additionally, 1/3 report that they regularly attend religious services.

According to Geopath Insights Data, there are more dog owners in the state than cat owners, at 27% of the population versus 17%, respectively! Wine drinkers also outnumber beer drinkers in the state by 8% of the total population.

In the coming 12 months, 30% of the population report that they have plans to go on a family vacation, and 30% plan to do some home remodeling.
