For today’s Fast Fact, let’s take a look at some OOH statistics across the 83 counties of Michigan!
Did you know that Michigan has the only floating Post Office in the world? The J. W. Westcott II is a USPS boat that operates out of Detroit, delivering mail to freighters on the Great Lakes. This boat also has its own ZIP code, 48222 – the only floating ZIP code in the US!
Michigan is known for its natural beauty and unique landscapes; the state is famously made up of two peninsulas (Upper and Lower), and is the only US State arranged in such fashion. Because of its northern position, and its unique dual-peninsula shape, 4 of the 5 Great Lakes border Michigan!
At the state level, Geopath audits nearly 29,000 spots, with inventory coming from 47 different operators! In the state, there is a total population of about 10 million.
Here are a few great potential audience segments to be aware of in the state!
Within the past 12 months, 27% report having purchased athletic shoes, 17% have purchased athletic clothing, 21% have been swimming, 15% have been running, 14% have gone backpacking, and 12% have been camping.
According to Geopath Insights Data, of the 10 million MI residents, 40% report that they have grilled outdoors, and 32% report doing outdoor gardening in the last 12 months.
Over 22% of residents say they plan home remodeling in the next 12 months. In the last year, 27% of people in the state have been to a professional sporting event, 19% have been to a theme park, and 18% have been to a zoo.
Of those in the state, over 1 in 3 say they regularly attend religious services and 17% have done volunteer work, and 6% are current or former military service members.
