According to the Department of Fish and Wildlife, California is the most biodiverse state in the US, acting as home to a greater variety of plants and wildlife than anywhere else in the US! It sports both the highest and lowest elevations in the US (and Western Hemisphere), and encompasses a unique blend of landscapes throughout the state.

Did you know there is a regular occurrence of pink snow in the state at certain altitudes, often referred to as watermelon snow? This algae-tinted snow is most commonly found in ranges of 10,000 to 12,000 feet, and has been observed around the world (even dating all the way back to Aristotle!)

At the state level, Geopath audits over 205,000 spots, with inventory coming from 135 different operators! In the state, there is a total population of nearly 40 million.

Here are a few great potential audience segments to be aware of in the state!

According to Geopath Insights data, of the 40 million CA residents, 37% report that they have grilled outdoors, 29% report doing outdoor gardening, and 28% have done lawn care in the last 12 months.

Within the past 12 months, 21% of residents have been swimming, 20% have been bicycling, 17% have been running/jogging, 16% have been backpacking, 11% have been camping, 11% have been boating, and 10% have gone fishing.

In the last year, 28% of residents have been to a professional sporting event, 20% have been to a theme park, 18% have visited the zoo, and 13% have been to a paid live music event.

Of those in the state, 51% have stayed in a hotel/motel in the last year, and 31% plan to take a family vacation in the upcoming year.
