OOH in Rhode Island: The State by Numbers
Friday Fast Fact
For today’s Fast Fact, let’s take a look at some OOH statistics across Rhode Island’s 5 counties! (Interestingly, Rhode Island is tied with Hawaii for the second-lowest number of counties in a state. Only Delaware has fewer, with 3!)
Rhode Island is a very unique state that holds a special place for me; it’s where I went to college, met my partner Miranda, and got to experience a specific state culture that in many ways defies explanation. From the Point Judith to Beavertail, Del’s lemonade to “hot wieners”, Rhode Island is a place fully unto itself.
At the state level, Geopath audits over 3,000 spots, with inventory coming from 24 different operators! In the state, there is a total population of 1.1 million, but don’t let this state’s size fool you; Rhode Island is the second-most densely populated state in the US.
Here are a few great potential audience segments to be aware of in the state! A full 2/3 of the state’s population reports that they have been to a Quick Service Restaurant to eat in the past 30-days. Approximately 28% of the population report that they have been to a sporting event in the past 12-months, 20% to a theme park, 18% to the zoo, and 27% to a casino. Of the 1.1 million Rhode Islanders in the state, 19% report that they have been biking, 15% have been hiking/backpacking, and 12% have been camping in the past 12 months.
In the coming 12 months, 32% of the population report that they have plans to go on a family vacation, and 12% plan to look for a new job.
Unlike many states around the US, there is one single DMA that covers the entirety of Rhode Island (and a bit of Massachusetts as well!) – here is the latest infographic on the Providence, RI DMA.
