For this week’s spotlight, let’s take a look at the market home to the most populated city in Florida – the Jacksonville DMA.

Did you know that Jacksonville is the largest city in the contiguous United States by land mass? At over 840 square miles, it is beaten in size by only a handful of Alaskan cities! It also boasts more miles of shoreline than any other city in the Florida. In addition, Jacksonville is Florida’s youngest city, with an average age of 36.

To some, Jacksonville is thought of as “America’s First Hollywood”. The city was home to over 30 movie studios in the early 1900s, including Metro Pictures (later, MGM). Many called it the “Winter Film Capital of the World” – the warm weather, architectural diversity, and natural beauty were a major draw for the movie industry in the silent film days.

According to Geopath Insights, there are more than 3,400 spots measured by Geopath within the Jacksonville market, which generate over 591 million impressions each week! Additionally, this market has a population of 2 million, with 41% of all commuting trips within the DMA taking 30 minutes or more.

Next, let’s look at who was spending in OOH within the DMA for January – June of 2021.

Looking at the top OOH Spenders in the Jacksonville market, half of the top 10 are legal services or attorneys. Food delivery service DoorDash takes the top spot, with coffee chain Dunkin’ also making an appearance. Large national advertiser Geico is also among the top spenders in Jacksonville.
