OOH in New Jersey: The State by Numbers

For today’s Fast Fact, let’s take a look at some OOH statistics across the 21 counties of New Jersey, my home state!
New Jersey is famously on the receiving-end of many jokes (especially in the New York area), but not on my watch! Big personalities and big hair? Definitely! But it’s also full of unique culture, amazing food, and often overlooked natural beauty. And not to mention, many iconic musicians and stars have called NJ home over the years!
New Jersey is also responsible for near-countless “firsts”, including the first boardwalk, first drive-in theater, first brewery, first incandescent bulb, and first solid-body electric guitar, to name only a few!
One of the most haunted roads in the US can also be found in NJ! Clinton Road in West Milford has a storied past, and carries quite an allure among locals. I can say from personal experience that there is legitimacy to the stories around Clinton Road – feel free to ask me about the phantom headlights, if you’re curious!
At the state level, Geopath audits over 46,000 spots, with inventory coming from 71 different operators! In the state, there is a total population of 9.2 million.
Here are a few great potential audience segments to be aware of in the state! According to Geopath Insights Data, there are more dog owners in the state than cat owners, at 24% of the population versus 14%, respectively! Wine drinkers also outnumber beer drinkers in the state by 12% of the total population.
Nearly 2/3 of the state’s population report that they have been to a Quick Service Restaurant to eat in the past 30-days, and 91% report having been to a sit-down restaurant in the same time period.
29% of people in New Jersey report that they have been to a professional sporting event in the past 12-months, 20% have been to a theme park, 18% to the zoo, and 26% to a casino. Of the 9.2 million New Jersians in the state, 1/3 spent time on lawn care, 41% have grilled/cooked outdoors, and 18% have done volunteer work in the past 12 months. Additionally, nearly 1/3 report that they regularly attend religious services.
In the coming 12 months, 32% of the population report that they have plans to go on a family vacation, and 32% plan to do some home remodeling.
