OOH in Maryland: The State by Numbers

For today’s Fast Fact, let’s take a look at some OOH statistics across the 23 counties (and 1 independent city) of Maryland!
Interestingly, Baltimore County does not contain the city of Baltimore itself; instead, Baltimore city is an “independent city” but functions as a county equivalent in most regards.
Maryland is home to many “firsts” in the US, including the first Post Office system, first water company, first dental school, and first telegraph line!
At the state level, Geopath audits over 33,000 spots, with inventory coming from 50 different operators! In the state, there is a total population of about 6 million.
As we are near the official end of summer, here are a few great potential audience segments to be aware of in the state!
Within the past 12 months, 23% of residents have been swimming, 20% have gone bicycling, 17% have been hiking/backpacking, 13% have been camping, and 13% have been fishing.
According to Geopath Insights Data, of the 6 million MD residents, 42% report that they have grilled outdoors, 36% have done lawn care, and 1 in 3 report doing outdoor gardening in the last 12 months.
In the last year, 29% of residents have been to a professional sporting event, 20% have been to a theme park, and 18% have visited the zoo.
Of those in the state, 54% have stayed in a hotel/motel in the last year, and 1 in 3 plan to take a family vacation in the upcoming year.
