Friday Fast Fact – 2022 Holiday Edition
Happy Holidays everyone! With Hanukkah underway, Christmas approaching this weekend, and Kwanzaa beginning on Monday, there is certainly a lot to celebrate. (The Seinfeld-inspired holiday Festivus is taking place today as well!)
As with many major holidays throughout the year, the end-of-year holiday season is a significant period of travel for those in the US. In fact, AAA estimates that almost 113 million people in the US will travel more than 50 miles from home between December 23 and January 2! This figure shows an increase of roughly 3.6 million people from last year’s holiday season. (https://tinyurl.com/3fxvfd94)
With such volumes of people on the roadways, this presents a massive, once-yearly opportunity for exposure to OOH messaging. Given the distances that some will travel during the holiday, there is a unique opportunity here for repeat exposures across markets, and wide Reach potential as well.
If you haven’t yet downloaded our “OOH For the Holidays” dataset, you can access that here: https://geopath.org/oohfortheholidays/. In it, we analyze inventory in 10 DMAs, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and Boston. The analysis includes data on reaching key gift-buying audience segments, and more.
From all of us at Geopath: safe travels, and Happy Holidays!
