For today’s Fast Fact Friday, we will continue our series examining the top OOH spenders in specific DMAs, to help our members prepare as markets reopen. The data is sourced from Kantar and covers OOH ad spend from January to March of 2020.
Recent Fast Fact Friday articles have looked at New York City, Salt Lake City, and Denver, highlighting the top OOH advertisers in these markets. However, today let’s travel to the shores of Lake Erie and highlight the home of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; Cleveland, Ohio.
A quick look at the top OOH spender list shows that the Financial sector is an avid buyer of OOH advertising within the Cleveland DMA. Four of the top ten spots are represented by financial institutions, with Dollar Bank, Allstate Cash Advances, Quicken, and Union Home Mortgage taking the fifth, seventh, eighth, and tenth spots, respectively.
Insurance is also well represented with two of the top three spots held by this sector! Allstate holds the top spot on the list, with USAA sitting at third, and Geico at sixth.
Also, interesting to note, the Ohio State Lottery is the second top OOH spender in Cleveland, utilizing the medium to reach audiences across the country’s 19th largest DMA. This is a trend seen in many of the other DMAs we’ve analyzed, with State Lotteries spending in OOH to promote their games. Don’t worry, we won’t make a bad pun about how these organizations are “lucking out with OOH,” but we thought about it!
